What a day for the babies

The girls got to jump on the bungee jump and the space spin. They ate peanuts, popcorn, and had some homemade funnel cake. They marched in the parade and we took pictures of President and Mrs. Carter. So they had a great time. Check out the web site their postcards are on the site already. http://www.jimmycarter.info/spotlight_1.html

Last night we drove down to Americas to spend the night and get to Plains, Georgia for the festival. The sun was a major factor so some of the photos are a bit darker than they could be.

Gabby was the first to get her's since she was the Kindergarten 1st Place winner. What was really neat to find out today was that there were 16,000 entries. Out of the 16,000 entries in Georgia only 36 student post cards were choosen for K-12.

Trip to Plains, Georgia

I finally got to speak with Gabby's teacher about her winning the Plains, Peanut, and a President postcard contest. Apparently, we have a kindergarten 1st place winner from Youth Elementary and a 1st grade 1st place winner at Magill Elementary. Both, girls took first in the state of Georgia for this contest in their grade levels. Kind of weird in a great way. I would never have made a bet that both would place more less win.
We are off to Plains Saturday so Gabby can meet President Jimmy Carter and Syd gets to do it for the second time. How wonderful. But due to the incrediably high gas prices and LACK of gas we have prepared and pray that we can find gas in south Georgia. We are taking a two gallon can with gas as a precaution. We just can't see having the girls miss this chance of a life time. Gabby is so excited.

WWW,half.com

If anyone is looking for a book half.com has some great prices. The girls and I have a website to sell books and use the funding for kids activities. So take a look and pass the address around to anyone you know might be interested. The girls goals is to make enough money to support their Karate and gymnastics habits. (new uniforms, lessons, testing etc and eventually competition.) Syd is trying to get us to let her spar in the October meet her first meet (we are thinking about it) . I got her a sparring helmet off eBay but I have to get all the addition pads. So check out the book site

Auditions

Sydney went to her audition today. She finds out tomorrow if she was selected for the acting school, not sure who was choosen by the director for a part. But the highlight of their day was Gabby and Sydney got to meet Esteban Ramirez (Adrian R'Mante) from the Suite Life of Zack and Cody. Sydney interviewed in front of him and some other people. Both girls were thrilled to see Esteban.

Life with the Reids

Life has been pretty busy. The girls are having a blast in Gymnastics and they have started Karate again. Sydney is working on her green belt and Gabby is going for her orange belt.
School is great. Both girls are doing well. Gabby has been doing great in Kindergarten, Sydney qualified for the focus program so she is keeping really busy. I am taking two courses at school so I am writing a lot of papers. Oh joy. I do like the topics.

I have school all weekend. So G is taking Sydney to her audition tomorrow. I got her signed up to audition at the 14th street playhouse, Gabby wants to so bad but the cut off is 6. Next time for Gabby.

Well hate to run but I have class in at 9 in Atlanta.

Watermelon

We have been having a field day with watermelons. We have about 10 more growing so far. So if you are in the hood stop by for some nice fresh melon. The garden has been great for the kids to learn how to grow their own food. Gabby my veggie eater would go out and pick a cucumber wash it off and eat it. Looking forward to next April when we plant again.
